Here at the National Geography Bee,
we are driven by curiosity.

We're two recent grads and geography geeks seeking to improve geography knowledge and appreciation nationwide. A fun and healthy competition is one arrow in the quiver.

We're driven by three core values:

  • The bee should inspire curiosity. It's time to look up and look around, and try to understand the world, and our home, as best we can. We are committed to focusing on local geography in our competitions, ensuring that American students know both about the world and about their own state and country.
  • The bee should be educational and interdisciplinary. Memorizing facts and flags is not what this is about. We aim to ensure students learn, and understand how geography is everywhere. Our competition demonstrates how geography intersects with not just other social sciences but culture, sports, technology, business, and art.
  • The bee should be fun. No one wants to simply take more tests. You're going to have a good time.

The National Geography Bee is wholly unaffiliated with the former National Geographic Bee run by National Geographic.
